just recently my Mom and Dad have re-done the master bedroom in their house. they did some painting and bought some new furniture it looks really nice! my old room from highschool really hasn't changed much since i left. it still has the same pictures i ripped out of a magazine and taped up on my mirror, and the anne geddis baby pictures from a calender that i framed up on the wall. so anyway, my dad asked me if i could come down one day and clean out my room. i still have notes to and from girlfriends, a caboodle, and 4 or 5 of my bridesmaid dresses. when i was down at my moms last she asked me if i wanted my rollerblades....from JR HIGH!!!
i used to be kind of a pack rat back in the day, now i do okay though, but there is still just enough clutter and disorganization to drive me crazy!!
the other day we were over at my brother and sister in laws house and someone commented on Parks' hair.... he has a mullet, there is just no denying it. he has a thick mullet in the back and then he has an extenda-mullet that includes about 10 hairs that are about and inch longer than that! i have tried to cut it... in my mind that is.. here let me explain. i picture myself cutting his mullet.....and then i picture me not getting a picture of his first hair cut......and then i picture chris disapointed he wasn't there (he wont let me cut it)... and then i picture Parks' being sad i didnt take more pictures of him. im sure you know where this is going......SO ANYWAY. on sunday we cut the extenda-mullet together and we got a picture of it..and so chris desperetly wanted to KEEP the 10 hairs that we cut. i love that he wanted to keep them....but no i am not storing 10 hairs in a ziploc bag for the next 50 years!
you may think i am joking here, but honestly chris wanted to keep these hairs!! Can you see them???!!!???okay so those are my two stories that got me thinking about all the weirdo junk that we have in our houses that for some reason just cant let go of. so this is my list of CRAP that i have that i am going to get rid of in this new year.......
50 things i should throw away.....TODAY!
1.gift cards with no credit on them
2. socks without a match, seriously, where did the partner go!
3. shirts i thought i would fit into.....eventually, but still havn't made it there
4. all the bottles in my bathroom that have an ounce left of whatever used to be in them...
5. cd's that i burned in highschool....... that i just love.. really it is probably time to stop listening to "Vitamin C, graduation" and "Green Day, time of our life"
6. weird unflattering sweatpants
7. textbooks from nursing school.....that i didn't read WHILE i was in school. they make you buy so many dumb books!
8. free make-up and hair samples. i keep telling myself it is AS important as food storage.. can you imagine a life without makeup and hair products. that is a scary day in my life!
9.graduation cards....from highschool
10. the bag of quilt squares that are more rectangle or triangle than they are square... such cute fabric though
11. old glittery lip chap.
12. plane tickets....concert tickets CHRIS!
13. receipts from safeway, walmart, superstore.....
14. lift tickets on winter jackets. please, please, please take those off!
15. rotten stinky bananas. i tried putting them in my freezer to make banana bread with LATER...didn't work, they just got colder and stinkier
16. MAC eyeshadows that are the color of the rainbow. i thought i used to look really good in green eyeshadow. i have only used about 4 shades for the past two years but i have about 15 MAC eyeshadows....hey they were $15 a pop.
17. glass bottles, wrappers, containers that USED to contain a food or beverage from another country!
18. the hemp necklace we all used to wear in highschool.....need i say more!
19. the 4 inch stilettos that really hurt my feet. they always look so good on other people, sometimes i just cant resist
20. wedding gifts that are in the basement....still......
21. the dead plant out on my deck and front step
22. anything and everything....i got a good deal on and havn't thought about or even touched in the last year
23. old cell phones.
24. shirts i hate but dont want to get rid of because then "my closet will look empty"
25. a few of the many white undershirts that i own that are no longer white.
26.perfume card samples
27. stale cornflakes
28.wedding invitations of people who have three kids now
29. home sweet home cross stiches
30. keys to my previous houses.....
31. the raisins in the fridge that started out as grapes, and anything else that would make you sick to eat or smell.
32. "recipes in a jar" that are more than a year old...
33. old banana clips and scrunchies
34. anything in my wardrobe that has been "beedazzled"!
35. jean jackets, bad printed bermuda shorts, and most definetly my skort!
36. recipes pushed and folded into my recipe box that i have not made in the last year. there are 365 days in a year. if i havn't made that recipe by now..i probably never will
37. northern refelection or cotton ginny sweaters that i bought matching with my mom in gr.9 (yes i did this)
38. shoes with holes in the sole
39. underwear with holes in the sole...ha
40. beads..you know the ones i mean. i used to make necklaces out of them all the time.
41. bridesmaid dresses... i have 6!
42. rings that make your finger go green.
43. plastic bags.....recycle...or throw away
44. laundry baskets that allow the laundry to fall out the sides due to 'holes' in the basket
45. jackets i cant do up anymore. i have this lulu lemon jacket that i bought before i was pregnant and for the life of me i cant get that thing done up!
46. scissors that bend instead of cut paper
47. knifes that you curse continuously
48. blender that does not blend
49. the clock that does not tick
50. and last but not least. Christmas ornaments that you made in gr.2 that your mother STILL puts up on the tree!
i think i am able to cut the tie with all of these things EXCEPT the Christmas decoration... my mom really likes it, and it is located at her house......

I used to be a huge pack rat. Because you just never know when you might need it right!
But now I throw everything away. Sometimes I throw too much away! And I have actually had a few of those moments where I needed something that was thrown out! But clearing out feels so good! Now you have made me want to find something to throw out...
I too had a pre prego lulu shirt - I sold it to my sister. I bet she would buy yours if you want to sell it. Dang her and her perky little 18 year old body!

Are you telling me that you didn't have any fourth ward YW memorabilia?!! Oh! what am I thinking that stuff is not garbage....:) You are hilarious, and Parks is such a stud! Way to be proactive about the mullet. I think almost all new babies have one, but as first time parents we deny it because we can't bear to cut it. F.Y.I Parks could definately pull off the mullet.
